The book gives a clear exposition of assumptions and limitations of basic methods used in demographic analysis. The introduced issues are illustrated using numeric examples and completed with exercises for self-assessment. The manual can be treated as a valuable completion of the demographic literature with special regard to the cohort analysis. Some aspects of estimating the population size and the population change are also discussed, what allows to extend the evaluation perspective on the replacement process of generations.
