Summary/Abstract: The book is devoted to characterizing the phonetic and grammatical systems as well as vocabulary of the dialects spoken by Polish settlers of the turn of the 20th century on the territory of today’s Belarus. The work consists of three parts. The first part describes the consecutive waves of Polish settlement in Polesie and the Vitebsk and Mogilev regions, changes in the sociolinguistic situation of places inhabited by Poles, and the characteristic features of the Polish language they used. The second part is a listing of vocabulary used in Polesie and Eastern Belarus, including especially the Silesian lexis, brought by particular groups of settlers from their native lands. The final part offers a summary of information on individual subregions and the vocabularies ascribed to them.
