Summary/Abstract: The publication presents results of ethnographic research of holidays of 21st Century in Slovakia. The original empirical findings described in the different chapters of this monograph present opinions of authors through the study of specific holidays on their current social functions, and outline the picture of the Slovak society in the 21st century in the mirror of these holidays. Particular parth of the publication focuses on three chosen holidays: Anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP), Christmas and Halloween. Specifically we observe the legislative preparation and changes of the Holiday Act.
