Summary/Abstract: The book comprises two ethical lecture courses of the late prof. Ivan Georgov: "History of ethics" and "Ethics (Principles of Morals)" and three research studies on issues of moral philosophy – “Selfishness and selflessness as principles of moral life", "The problem of freedom of will" and "What is conscience?". They were published in the first third of the twentieth century but today practically unknown for both the specialists and the general public. The publication of these texts now gives a chance for more thorough understanding of the works of the "father" of professional university education in philosophy in Bulgaria. Beside their historical value these texts have a live value too as far as the observations and evaluations they reveal have not lost significance. The texts would be fascinating for everyone who is interested in the basic problems of ethical theory or history of ethical teachings and in the work of the first Bulgarian researcher of moral philosophy from the epoch after Liberation.
