Summary/Abstract: This monograph focuses on public participation in revitalisation, analysed both from a theoretical perspective and in the context of municipal management. It relates to revitalisation initiatives carried out in urban, urban-rural and rural municipalities following the adoption of the Revitalisation Act (2015). It pursues two objectives: cognitive and applied. The first is to assess the functioning of the Revitalisation Committee as a mandatory tool for social participation in revitalisation practice from a stakeholder perspective. The practical objective of the study, however, is to formulate recommendations supporting the development of this instrument in Poland. The monograph identifies, among other things, the necessary conditions for revitalisation as a specific spatial intervention, outlines the scope and objectives of public participation in revitalisation, and presents a typology of stakeholder roles. To gather the opinions of members of the Revitalisation Committees, questionnaire surveys, in-depth interviews and World Café-style workshops were used. Their results made it possible to demonstrate how this tool operates in practice and to identify its strengths and weaknesses, as well as the factors that support or limit its development and effectiveness. The analyses carried out indicated that the legal provisions concerning this tool in the Revitalisation Act (2015) allow for its flexible adaptation, taking into account the endogenous characteristics of the local authority for which it is established. In principle, the Revitalisation Committee can be an effective tool for public participation, but in practice its potential is not fully utilised. It clearly lacks agency, that is, the actual, tangible influence of stakeholders on every stage of the revitalisation process carried out in the municipality.
