Summary/Abstract: We are living in times of the fourth industrial revolution, until recently the fight against the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and the ongoing armed con-flict in Ukraine. All these events have a huge impact on work and the la-bour market. Lifelong employment for a single employer is becoming an archaic career model, just like work activity carried out stationary at a company's premises. The aim of this publication is to give a detailed ac-count of the modifications that are taking place in the field of work in the era of so-called Industry 4.0. The aim is not only to discuss, but also to show the psychological perspective of these transformations. Devoting attention to these issues is important from a scientific and practical point of view. For we are on the threshold of the fifth industrial revolution, and this means further challenges in the area of work, profession and career. What will emerge in place of hybrid careers, multi-jobs and gig workers? Are we really seeing the dualisation of the labour market and the twilight of the middle level of competence? This study is addressed both to busi- ness psychologists, labour researchers and management practitioners, as well as to all working people personally experiencing these transfor-mations. It thus contributes to the issue of work changes and provides a starting point for further explorations taking into account its interdisci-plinarity and multidimensionality.
