Summary/Abstract: How can we raise a generation of mature individuals who can manage their emotions, collaborate effectively, and act with responsibility and respect? This publication provides a comprehensive answer and demonstrates that cultivating students’ character and social-emotional competencies is not an add-on to education, but one of the key prerequisites for its quality and long-term effectiveness. The authors integrate current pedagogical and psychological findings with the realities of school practice and clarify the connections between ethics, prosocial behavior, and social-emotional learning. An extensive review of domestic and international studies was compared with the results of a large-scale study conducted in Czech schools with a long-standing tradition of ethics education. The book is intended for teachers, school principals, curriculum developers, and experts in the fields of education and psychology who strive to create a safe school environment and promote the well-rounded development of students. It reflects current changes in the Czech curriculum and offers a methodological framework for integrating personal, social, and ethical development into education in accordance with the Czech Republic’s Education Policy Strategy 2030+.
