Summary/Abstract: The study comprehensively presents the security policy of Iraqi Kurdistan – an entity functioning as a federal unit of Iraq, but in practice exhibiting the characteristics of statehood. The analysis, covering years 2005–2023, shows how Iraqi Kurdistan, despite formally limited sovereignty, shapes and implements its own security policy. The publication discusses both internal and external security conditions of this de facto state, including the relations of the Government of the Kurdistan Region with Iraq and neighbouring countries. The subjectivity of security was also examined, including strategic goals and instruments of security policy of Iraqi Kurdistan.
