Summary/Abstract: Božo Kovačević (1955) is a prominent foreign policy commentator. During his career, he was a founder and editor of the cultural journal Gordogan, an editor at the publishing company Globus, and a lecturer in the sociology of culture at the Faculty of Technology of the University of Zagreb and at the Academy of Dramatic Art, University of Zagreb. At the Dag Hammarskjöld College of International Relations and Diplomacy, he taught theories of international relations. He has published a considerable number of scholarly papers, as well as numerous articles in print media and on internet portals. He is a regular contributor to the portal Ideje.In 1989, he was one of the initiators of the founding of Croatian Social Liberal Party, the first democratic political party in Croatia, where he served as vice-president and secretary-general. From 1992 to 1999, he was a member of the Croatian Parliament. In the government of Ivica Račan, he served as Minister of Environmental Protection and Physical Planning. From 2003 to 2008, he held the post of Ambassador of the Croatia to the Russia.Since then, the study of the political and cultural history of Russia has been one of the subjects to which he has devoted systematic attention. Over the past eight years, he has lectured at the University of the Third Age of the Public Open University Zagreb on various issues and aspects of contemporary international relations. This book presents papers whose content was largely developed within the framework of those lectures and presented at various professional conferences, public forums, and in the media.
