Summary/Abstract: The publication is devoted to the history of Polish criminal law science and the development of criminal law in force in Poland in the 19th century and in the Second Polish Republic – the key periods for shaping the foundations of modern criminal thought. The author presents the process of forming this discipline against the background of the political and intellectual changes of the era, showing it in a broad comparative perspective. The analysis includes both references to the development of criminal law science in other countries as well as to other penal sciences, which allows for a better understanding of the specificity and significance of Polish achievements in this field.
