Summary/Abstract: The research is the result of the need to record and analyze the development in the field of criminal law cooperation of the member states of the European Union. At the same time, it must be noted that it is only a matter of choosing the most important issues that are important for the so-called the third pillar of the European Union, because the branched activities and the multitude of regulations that have been adopted or are being prepared represent an extensive matter that could not be fully covered by the publication. This is one of the most promising areas of EU law, when it comes to its future development. At the same time, it must be noted that the existing system is already taking the form of an organized, coherent whole, which is increasingly referred to in the literature as EU criminal law. In order to try to answer how ambitious such plans are and what obstacles stand in the way of overcoming the classic model of state sovereignty, according to which criminal law is under the exclusive national jurisdiction, the authors decided to divide the book into two parts so that the first part of the book deals with the changes foreseen by the Treaty of Lisbon in this matter, while the second part concerns various forms of criminal law cooperation.
