Summary/Abstract: This text describes the methodological process of editing the unfinished manuscript of Nicolae Ilieșiu regarding the communes of Caraș and Timiș counties, written during the interwar period. The editor details the challenges of working with a draft that was largely journalistic in style and heavily annotated by hand. The editorial approach prioritized fidelity to Ilieșiu’s original content while making necessary modernizations to spelling (e.g., s to z in specific contexts, updating diphthongs) and correcting obvious errors in toponomy (e.g., standardizing village names like Giurgiova, Ciudanovița, or Jidovin). Incomplete sentences were removed, and lists of fallen soldiers from WWI were integrated into the text. The scientific apparatus, though sometimes inconsistent in citation style (referencing works by Frigyes Pesty or Jenő Szentkláray), was largely preserved to maintain the integrity of the author's documentation. The volume also includes a toponimic index focused on microtoponomy, excluding major settlement names.
