Summary/Abstract: This volume presents the proceedings of the symposium "Spaces of Alterity," organized by the Commission for the History of Mentalities of the Association of Historians from Transylvania and Banat, in collaboration with Babeș-Bolyai University and the museums of Lugoj and Reșița. The symposium, held in Lugoj in 1996, brought together researchers from various Romanian cities to explore the multifaceted concept of alterity and the image of the "Other." The contributions reflect the growing interest in imagology and social imaginary studies within Romanian historiography, influenced by international trends. The papers cover diverse methodologies and perspectives, addressing themes such as comparative history, inter-ethnic and inter-confessional relations, and cultural and social history. The volume aims to contribute to the methodological refinement and terminological precision of imagological research in Romania.
