Summary/Abstract: There are books that give more than just instruction. Carlo Sforza's book belongs to those creative works that shape the destinies of our time. He gave it a self-confidently demanding title. The urgent need of such a book is in accordance with the fulfillment of the task that the author set himself: he convinces that, in spite of everything, Europe is uniting, that today it is already more than a geographical concept, because everywhere one can observe and detect a growing "European consciousness". Despite everything - even the tragically heroic personal fate of the author himself. For if anyone had sufficiently serious and personal reasons to despair in black disillusionment about the future of European nations, it would certainly be this voluntary Italian emigrant. In free Italy he lived happily and prosperously, achieving one success after another. His extraordinary diplomatic skills even led him to the point that in 1920 he was given the honor of directing Italy’s foreign policy as Foreign Minister. (from book jacket)
