Summary/Abstract: When in the mid-sixties, speaking about the position of workers, the then president of the Federation of Trade Unions of Yugoslavia declared that "if the workers are not well, let them strike!", he had no idea that this would soon become a Yugoslav reality. During the 1980s, strikes became a regular occurrence in cities across the country. From "Trepča" to "TAM", from "Labin" to "Zmaj", workers went on strike demanding better working and living conditions, and against austerity measures and the neoliberal restructuring of Yugoslavia, which was supported and pushed primarily by the political and economic leadership.
