Summary/Abstract: Edmund Ronald Leach is known to the scientific public primarily for his works Culture and Communication and Claude Lévi-Strauss, and as an atypical representative of British structural functionalism. This work aims not to overturn existing interpretations of his role, but to analyze the key elements that shaped his scholarly development and evaluate which assessments of his work remain valid. Using Leach’s bibliography and secondary anthropological sources, the study outlines his life, intellectual context, major contributions, influences, critiques, and provides a final personal evaluation of the strengths and limitations of his anthropological approach.
