Summary/Abstract: Tadeusz Mazowiecki’s Reports from Yugoslavia are being published on the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. It was in protest against the passivity of the United Nations and the powerlessness of the international community that contributed to the Srebrenica tragedy that Mazowiecki made the unprecedented decision to resign from his position as Special Rapporteur in the former Yugoslavia. This volume presents the 18 reports that were drawn up during his mission from 1992 to 1995, along with the most important related documents and press materials from the Tadeusz Mazowiecki Collection, held at the Central Archives of Modern Records in Poland, and from private collections. The reports are an important source for studying the history of the conflict and the persecutions and atrocities following the breakup of Yugoslavia. They were later utilized by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in the trials of war criminals.
