Summary/Abstract: The concept of “autonomy”, despite its wide and frequent use, still does not have a uniform meaning. It can be freely pointed out that this concept has an indefinite, actually insufficiently defined, content, not only in the extra-legal, political, sociological, philosophical and historiographical understanding, but also in the vocabulary of legal science. Hence, it is not surprising that “autonomy” is the subject of frequent disputes in the theory and positive legal regulation of social relations. Part of such disputes also relates to the concept of non-territorial autonomy, especially to the issues of the reasons for its establishment, the subjects for whose benefit it is established, that is, who enjoy it, the arrangements in which it appears, as well as the legal foundations, content and framework of its existence.
