Summary/Abstract: In all the turning points in history, in situations of revolutionary upheaval from the French Revolution to the present day, within the revolutionary camp we can again and again observe the conflicts of authoritarian and anti-authoritarian tendencies.' Conflicts of this kind have been present before; for example in the movements of the 16th century in Germany as well as in the English revolution, but in France they show almost all the characteristics of a model, a type of attitude that will then be more and more clearly present in the attempted revolutions that followed. The positions of advocates of anti-authoritarianism gradually weakened in all revolutions, so that they themselves were finally removed from the political scene, thus losing any significant possibility of influencing social events. As supporters of the expropriation of political power, they, like entire revolutionary movements and entire nations, were placed in the position of an object subordinated to exactly that type of organization and that force that they opposed in principle. They themselves have never formed the type of organization that could successfully resist parties and groups whose ambition is to win power, that is, to manage other people's lives.
