Summary/Abstract: The focus of this monograph is the new identity policy of Montenegro, which began to be built at the end of the nineties of the twentieth century, after the conflict between the ruling parties in Serbia and Montenegro and the split in the DPS, until then the overwhelmingly dominant political party of Montenegro. The new identity policy was built gradually and carefully, considering the fact that the Serbian identity is deeply rooted in Montenegrin society and that the protagonists of the new Montenegrin identity were until yesterday the followers and protectors of the Serbian identity in Montenegro. The Serbian identity in Montenegro is often spoken and written about under the pressure of daily political events, a vocabulary saturated with stereotypes, and at the political level - phrased diplomatic language, devoid of substance. This book represents an attempt to talk about the problem without the mentioned limitations and to point out the genesis of the change in the social status of the Serbian identity in Montenegro.
