Summary/Abstract: Equipped, on the one hand, with theoretical and analytical tools, and on the other with methodologically rigorously collected data, we move through this book towards a better and more complete understanding of electoral behavior in Serbia. We deal with two fundamental aspects of electoral behavior: electoral turnout and electoral decision-making. The first one refers to the analysis of factors that (can) influence individual differences in election turnout, that is, models that can explain differences in the probability of voting. The second refers to the factors that explain the choice of party for which an individual votes. In addition to this introductory part, the book contains five more chapters. The first following chapter contains an overview of the applied methodology. There are details on the construction of the sample of respondents, the method of data collection, as well as the content of the questionnaire. The next chapter presents the basic features of the political context in Serbia during the 2012 election period. It talks about the content of political and ideological dimensions that distinguished the main blocs of opposing parties, about more general factors that could influence the level of turnout and the like. After that, there are two main and most comprehensive chapters that relate to the main topics of this book: electoral turnout and electoral decision-making. The chapters have a similar structure. In both cases, the analyzes begin with an overview of earlier research and a discussion of theoretical models that suggest the structure of the analyzes that follow. This is about the specification of relevant concepts and the variables that follow from them, as well as their role in explaining the researched phenomenon. The influence of selected variables on turnout and decision-making is first analyzed individually, and then within complex models, which correspond to certain theoretical approaches. The analyzes end with a discussion of the established results. In the last chapter, we summarize the research results. The results are discussed, on the one hand, in the light of broader theoretical models, and then also in the light of the implications for the quality of the electoral process and democracy in Serbia, on the other.
