Summary/Abstract: During 2017, the Coordination Committee for Small Arms and Light Weapons in Bosnia and Herzegovina coordinated the collection of data on the distribution and effects of small arms and light weapons (SALW) in the country, with the support of the Center for the Control of Small Arms in Southeast and Eastern Europe (SEESAC). Along with these activities, in 2017, SEESAC conducted an online public opinion survey on perceptions of the use, possession and dangers of firearms in Southeast Europe, including Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The purpose of this wider research in the field of SALW is threefold, namely to determine trends in the distribution and effects of SALW, especially in relation to the type, quantity, possession, distribution, permitted and illegal trade, production and circulation of SALW, then to determine trends in the effects of SALW on citizens in BiH, especially in the part that concerns incidents related to firearms and their characteristics, and finally to assess the public's perception regarding the use of firearms, ownership, violence and safety in community.
