Summary/Abstract: In the burgeoning literature on small arms, there is a tendency to rush to judgment in proposing risk education for children and young people. There is no evidence that an analysis of the psychological and paediatric literature on the subject of risk-taking has been undertaken. The aim of this literature review is to gather together significant knowledge on risk-taking, children and young people that is relevant to any preliminary discussion on the impact of small arms on children. While very little research has been done on risk-taking and children, there is a large literature on adolescents.
