Summary/Abstract: Marriage is a legally regulated union of life between a man and a woman. The concept of marriage as a legal institution is one of the most controversial issues in marriage law. Differences exist both in the understanding of the legal nature of marriage and in the identification and selection of the predominant content and essential purpose of marriage in a given society and at a given time. From Roman doctrine to the present day, legal writers have sought to define the elements of the legal concept of marriage.
