Summary/Abstract: The publication is a full study of Jan Ponętowski’s graphic collection. Its in-depth analysis – both as a whole and its particular parts – provides insight into more general, and still under-researched, processes of creating, organizing and understanding the collection of graphics in Europe at the end of the 16th century. The author presents the biography of Jan Ponętowski, which has not yet been comprehensively developed, and analyses his collection - a valuable source to learn about the collectible practices of that time. The two-part catalogue introduces into the scientific circulation information about many rare or so far unknown compositions and the state of graphic works of famous engravers and editors such as Philips Galle, Hendrick Goltzius, Antonio Lafreri, Gerard de Jode, Hieronymus Cock and Volcxken Diericx, or the representatives of the Sadeler, Collaert and Wierix families. Publication in 3 volumes.
