Summary/Abstract: The idea to write a book about deer in Serbian ritual poetry arose during my doctoral dissertation, in which I was working on a topic from comparative literature (Serbian and Galician-Portuguese), for which it was crucial to delve into the mythological-religious representation on which the appearance of the deer motif was based. That dissertation would certainly have been written much faster if such a book had already existed. Since it did not, I immersed myself in the material in order to gain a sufficiently informative insight into what interested me. Thus, a considerable amount of material was collected, most of which, both due to its scope and the nature of the topic itself, had to remain unused, and which I considered it would be good to devote to it later and process - a task that will only be partially accomplished with this book.
