Summary/Abstract: The Position of Women in the Armed Forces in the Western Balkans provides: • Comparable data on the representation of women in the armed forces in the Western Balkans; • Policies and practices of the Ministries of Defence (MoDs) and the armed forces (AFs) on recruiting women, their education and training, career development and participation in peacekeeping missions; • Policies and practices related to achieving gender equality in the armed forces. The present study is the result of a joint endeavour of the Ministries of Defence in the Western Balkans and as such is a unique example of regional cooperation.
