Summary/Abstract: The right to privacy is one of the basic human rights and as such is contained in a large number of global and regional international instruments. Personal privacy is complex and includes a number of related rights: inviolability of the apartment, inviolability of the shipment, inviolability of communication, and so on. Šurlan lists several dimensions of the internationally established right to privacy: the right to private life, the right to respect family life, the right to respect home, the right to respect correspondence. Each of these rights is protected by the legal systems of the states, up to the level of criminal protection and absolute abstinence from its violation, except in exceptional circumstances that are objectively justified and regulated by law.
