Summary/Abstract: Today, the contemporary practice of medical expertise is undeniably triggering numerous discussions and undergoing a kind of re-examination. There is almost no legal issue that has not been updated, starting with the concept of expert testimony, the type of expert, the role of expert knowledge in legal proceedings, and ending with the selection of an expert, his competence and specialty for certain areas of expertise. All activities and processes in practice create an image of the need to reform the law on expertise. Legal solutions should be such that they reflect the aspiration to improve the institution of expertise itself and find the best solutions for the legal issues raised. Here, on that task, different legal conceptions meet in a comparative legal manner, ideas and experiences of legal and medical practice are exchanged, an effort is made to retain what is best, what brings concepts closer together and introduces a broader, qualitatively better view of the overall context. Hence the interest of significant international organizations to adequately standardize numerous issues of medical expertise and raise them to a higher level of expertise and efficiency. Approaching at a higher level certainly testifies to the universality of the questions that are opened by medical expertise. In this book, a review will be made of each of the open questions with the aim of using the comparative legal method to think about the possible improvement of legal and practical solutions for the institution of forensic medical expertise in Serbia.
