Summary/Abstract: The main idea of this book is to point out that there are no bad theories of multiculturalism, but that policies of multiculturalism can be very bad. Theories and their critics, from different scientific and ideological backgrounds, analyze, explain and bring into relation the phenomena within the multicultural whole. The majority of theoreticians give the ethnic cite a substantial strength in the multicultural basket. The strength of ethnicity rests on the fact that everyone belongs to an ethnic group. The bonds that people build with respect to their preferred ethnic group may weaken and may become irrelevant to them, but they cannot be undone. In relation to gender, sex, culture, age, social roles - ethnicity occupies a pervasive, basic position.
