The World Health Organization (WHO) defines violence as "the intentional use of physical force or force, threatened or actualized, against oneself, against another person, or against a group of people or an entire community, which results in or is likely to cause injury, death, psychological consequences, adverse development or deprivation" (Violence Prevention Alliance, 2020). Organization, 2012), and accepted by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Violence, reads: "Elder abuse is a one-time or repeated act or lack of appropriate action, occurring within a relationship in which trust is expected, that causes harm or pain to an older person."
