Summary/Abstract: The aim of this monograph is to consider the connection between low fertility and gender inequality as well as possible, using the example of European countries. Low fertility is a multidimensional phenomenon, and its deterministic basis is complex. The relevant literature underlines the positive effects of gender equality on reproductive behavior. That relationship is complex. Hence the intention to deal with scientific material and statistical data, based on which we will make conclusions about the influence of gender regimes on the level of births in European countries. The demographic angle means a focus on understanding the causes of low birth rates. In this case, we consider gender roles as relevant factors and gender inequality as a relevant framework of reproductive behavior in modern society. The consideration also has an application value. Positive and negative implications are pointed out. A critical attitude towards negative phenomena concerning the connection between gender roles and fertility leads to the affirmation of the position that gender equality is a framework within which adequate solutions should be found and political responses defined, which will result in positive effects from the point of view of fertility. At the center of such reactions are the individual, the family and the quality of living conditions. Gender relations represent an important segment of the overall response to low fertility.
