Summary/Abstract: The initial jubilation over the Czech so-called „return to Europe“ was replaced by pragmatic considerations of what positives membership in the Union brings and what obligations are associated with it. However, dreams of joining the club of the chosen ones, where roasted pigeons fly into mouths, turned out to be just as odd as fears of dissolving like a sugar cube in European coffee. The Czech Republic has matured into a valid member of the EU, capable of leading a constructive dialogue on issues of the European present and future. Along with this, modern Czech Europeanism has also matured. This collection is being published at a time when the Czech Republic is no longer a newcomer to the Union and it is up to it to share its experiences with other states that are seeking to join the EU or have recently joined it.
