Summary/Abstract: This work represents the supplemented and updated edition of Duško Lopandić's book "Regional Initiatives in Southeast Europe", which was published in 2001 by the European Movement in Serbia and the Institute for International Politics and Economy in Belgrade. The aim of the first edition was to deal systematically with the then relatively new topic of multilateral regional cooperation in the Balkan region, within the wider European and world phenomenon of "new regionalism". The work on the text was started back in those difficult times of sanctions and conflicts in which Serbia found itself at the end of the last century - but it turned out that the book appeared at the right moment, in the context of the increasingly dynamic development of various forms of regional institutions, forums and organizations and in a much more favorable internal and international context, both for Serbia and for the entire region. We can state with pleasure that the work was in a certain way a predecessor and a useful source for the rich research literature on this topic that appeared during the last decade. Bearing in mind that it was also printed in an English translation, the book represented a useful manual abroad for many diplomats, journalists, researchers, students and anyone interested in the issue of multilateral cooperation in the Balkans.
