Summary/Abstract: The use of water, solar and wind energy in Serbia is still minimal, although it has undertaken to increase the share of energy from renewable sources in total consumption from the current 21.2 to 27% by 2020. In the countries of the European Union, goals have been set for the year 2020, what share of energy consumption should come from renewable sources. In 2014, Sweden exceeded the target, reaching 52.6% in total energy consumption. Serbia has the base to create a system of using renewable energy sources. However, the question remains as to why there is no radical transformation of energy policy and why strategies for the development of renewable energy sources remain only unfulfilled dreams.
