Summary/Abstract: The Republic of Serbia has adopted a legislative, regulatory, strategic and planning framework for preventing discrimination in the steps it is taking towards full membership in the EU. Today, it mostly corresponds to EU standards in this area. Discrimination is not a systemic phenomenon in Serbia, but the position of certain vulnerable social groups and discrimination in certain areas is still present. Certainly, the next phase involves better implementation of the established legal and political framework, improvement of cooperation between the legislative, executive and judicial authorities with independent control mechanisms. The debate in Jagodina is one of a series of twenty debates that the European Movement in Serbia and the Faculty of Political Sciences organized in seventeen other cities during 2017 and 2018, in cooperation with the European Movement in Serbia - Sremska Mitrovica and the European Movement in Serbia - Kraljevo. The debates are part of the "Europe for me" project, with the idea of raising public issues important for Serbia in the process of European integration and providing verified and useful information about that process.
