Summary/Abstract: To think in dark times - for yourself and in yourself, without high-risk communication with others - to think in a dialogue with yourself about evil while evil is happening, should not be difficult, because there are too many events that unfold before your eyes and that make you think about them and make moral judgments about them. Hannah Arendt says: "If you examine the few, the very few, who in the moral collapse of Nazi Germany remained intact, completely free of guilt, you will find that they never went through anything resembling a great moral conflict or a crisis of conscience. They did not think about questions like the question of the lesser evil or the question of loyalty to the fatherland or the oath, or anything else that was at stake. Nothing like that. They could discuss the reasons for action, and much said that there was no prospect of success; besides, they might have been afraid. But they never doubted that crimes remained crimes even when the state declared them lawful." From the Preface by Nenad Dimitrijević
