Summary/Abstract: The question of the independence of the judicial authority and judicial self-government as an important determinant of that authority during the last decades has occupied the attention of lawyers, both theoreticians and practitioners. The independence of the judiciary is one of the key elements of the rule of law and the backbone of a democratic society. Its affirmation, as well as its re-affirmation after the tectonic social changes brought about by the fall of the Berlin Wall, is not a simple procedure, nor can it be approached according to the principle of ready-made solutions, or even solutions that can be easily transferred from one system to another (transplanted). In this sense, there is no single and unequivocal answer to the question posed by Rakić Vodinelić regarding whether there is a formula for good justice.
