Summary/Abstract: The Republic of Serbia is on the path of a large number of irregular migrants from African countries, Afghanistan and the Middle East to the countries of Western Europe. In recent years, a growing trend has been observed in the number of cases in which persons caught illegally crossing the RS border expressed their intention to apply for asylum. The high speed with which new migrants arrive, especially during the months of political upheaval in North Africa, caught the competent state authorities in Serbia unprepared. Among the migrants there is also a significant number of minors.
