Summary/Abstract: Novi Sad, a peripheral area of ​​East-Central Europe. Or, the peripheral area of ​​the Balkans. I often think of Gdansk by Gunther Grass, or Trieste by Claudio Magris. But, still, most often, on Sandor Marai's Košice, because here too something is about to go the way of definitive disintegration. Hungarian writer, I smile to myself. Homeless local patriot! Like a Borgesian story. I consider myself a kind of centaur, a species that is dying out, since towns similar to Novi Sad are dying out. Novi Sad, Košice, and several other cities in this region perhaps better symbolize the kidnapping of Central Europe, but that is what Kundera envisioned. But they will be compensated by large western metropolises, "born" islands of nation states...
