Summary/Abstract: The monograph presents a study of the ESP needs of students of economics and socio-political studies aimed at course optimisation. The research includes two stages with the pilot one having finished in June 2021 and involving the students at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) in Bulgaria as well as the subject, and ESP lecturers at UNWE. The second stage included students from universities with the profile of UNWE in Bulgaria and worldwide (April-October 2021). Altogether, 1106 students from seven Bulgarian and twelve foreign HEIs took part in the survey along with thirty-two faculty members who teach English, subject or both. The impressive number of respondents allowed for an in-depth and insightful research. The results from the study were analysed in detail, which led to the development of comprehensive recommendations that could be used in order to optimise course parameters and hence design more effective and engaging ESP courses for students of economics and socio-political studies. Even though the examination of the issue was related to the educational process at a particular university, there are implications for all academic institutions worldwide whose mission is to offer high-quality programmes and provide a learning-enhanced environment.
