Summary/Abstract: The present monograph expands the current knowledge of the relationships between the behaviour of parents and their offspring in terms of step counts, screen time, and overweight/obesity in children. Although the current literature emphasizes a clear and quantifiable association between objectively monitored free-living physical activity of parents and their children, there is little clarification on how these relationships vary during school days and weekends in comparison with single-child families and families with more children. Revealing the patterns of parent-child behaviour provides an overview of the lifestyle of families with children aged 4-16 and is a source of valuable information for designing and implementing family-based intervention programmes to combat childhood obesity.
