Summary/Abstract: The article aims to present a brief overview of the activities undertaken by the first equality body in the Republic of Macedonia – The Commission for Protection against Discrimination, within the first three years of its operation. The overview shows that the activities undertaken thus far, as well as the problems it faces in practice, are largely related with its lack of resources. Namely, the small annual budgets allocated for the operation of this body, and the lack of legal grounds for establishing expert services, have resulted with a focus on the protective function of the body. The promotional, research and other functions have been realized in relation to and within the frame of the cooperation which the Commission has with international and non-governmental organizations in the country.
