Summary/Abstract: The article raises the question of musical interpretations in the twentieth century myth of Oedipus. The focus is predominantly on the most symbolically loaded part of the story - the one about father-murder and incest. In this segment the topics of prophecy, knowledge, murder, incest, retribution, exile. Outside of them remains the question of the causal conditionality of the Oedipus paradigm, which is in the prehistory of events and for which two points are valid: it is hidden and manifesting itself requires redemption. From the dozens of stage interpretations the myths of Oedipus comment on those of Igor Stravinsky, George Enescu, Carl Orff and Wolfgang Rome, located chronologically between 1927 and 1987.
