Summary/Abstract: The more the work of the screenwriter and director Yuliy Stoyanov (1930-2011) moves away in time, the more it clears in the minds of generations of documentarians what they have learned from him as a method of work. He is the author of "Biographical Information" (1969), "Zahari Stoyanov" (1973), "To the Biography of Dimitrov" (1982), "Around the Monument" (1991), "The Constitution of Tarnovo" (1998), "Bulgaria: Base Data ”(2004),“ On the Opportunity to Live ”(2005) and others. His main method is observation - patiently, unobtrusively, consistently, with a lot of tolerance. He meticulously and in detail studies archival materials, being able to ignore the more effective facts in the name of professional ethics. He is interested in several topics: history, ethnopsychology and personal destiny. He carefully selects the characters: he tells about the famous from an unexpected and very individual angle (about Zahari Stoyanov, Lyuben Karavelov, Georgi Dimitrov, Valeri Petrov). His correctness to objects is proverbial to the extent that he is accused of intellectual detachment. He believes that great culture is necessary for a documentary filmmaker to be able to connect facts freely. His special charm is in his delicate sense of humor: he doesn't judge characters and history even when they deserve it - he just shows us what we can be ashamed of.
