A heroic individual as a role model for a collective, socialist society: Creation of a cinematic role

Summary/Abstract: The need for a new definition of past and present in the spirit of an ideologically burdened interpretation of history as a field for creating new or subject to current interpretation heroic personalities is identified as a major task for Bulgarian cinema of the socialist era. The films allow to present characters whose profiles correspond to the ideological conjuncture. In a totalitarian socialist state, the system, unlike the author, is responsible for the creation and interpretation of a cinematographic work, and as a result it receives an effective tool for political influence to be imposed on society. The actions of individual images filmed and presented are subsequently transferred to the team - to all participants in the construction and strengthening of the new socio-political reality in Bulgaria.
