Summary/Abstract: In this article we present IF (interactive fiction), which is a software in which the user interactingwith the interface and taking over the features of a character is involved in the development of an interactivefiction. IF is similar to adventure games because it requires a design, and resembles with the narration throughcommon components such as: introduction, content and conclusion, whose writing takes into account not onlythe literary rigors, but also those of programming. The evolution of IF is related to a series of software, such as„Adventure”, „Zork”, „Mindwheel”, „Gateway II: Homeworld” etc. and groups organized around Usernet, whichare presented in detail in this article.Although the boom period of IF works is considered overdue, many specialists in the field, such as E. Aarseth,R. Giner-Sorolla, N. Montfort, G.K. Wilson and other, intuit a new stage in their evolution, mentioning the obvious fusion between literature and software, which encourages the theory of literature to draw special attention tothis cybertextual form of ergodic literature.
