Summary/Abstract: The first part of the paper deals with some peculiarities of the Vocative case and of the category of animacy and then brings a review of the Vocatives of nouns denoting something inanimate in contemporary grammar books of the Croatian language. The second part of the paper presents the results of extensive research on the use of vocative endings of nouns for inanimacy and gives examples of the use of the Vocative of nouns denoting something inanimate.
