Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses the foundation of the two local newspapers – Naše jedinstvo and Dan in light of the political turmoil in Dalmatia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The significance of the newspaper as the most important political media is highlighted. The paper also analyses the political situation in Bosnia before the Sarajevo incident. The contents of newspaper articles dedicated to the incident are provided as well as the descriptions of the circumstances and reactions surrounding the incident and information about the anti-Serb demonstrations in a number of Bosnian and Dalmatian cities.
