Summary/Abstract: The article describes the military and political career mechanisms of Kazimierz Michał Pusłowski, a podstoli (Deputy Master of the Pantry) of Rzeczyca, in 1660–1696. It aims to shed light on the life of one of the outstanding mid-level commanders in the Lithuanian army in the 1670s and 1680s, and to show how vital a role in building his military, political, and social position was of his fi ft een-year period of service in the Crown Hussars and relations with leading fi gures of the political scene in the Commonwealth, such as Jerzy Lubomirski, Jan Sobieski, Michał Kazimierz Radziwiłł, Kazi mierz Jan and Benedykt Paweł Sapiehas, and Jan Karol Dolski.
